The history of the Syrian Jewish community underscores the broader narrative of immigration, cultural adaptation, and community resilience in American history. Their story illustrates how a group of people came here fleeing persecution with nothing, and built a thriving community from the ground up. Not only did they manage to establish a flourishing neighborhood, but a family as well. The members of the community support and help each other in every way they can, which can be seen through non profit organizations such as Sephardic Bikur Holim (SBH). It was SBH that helped incoming Syrian Jewish immigrants when they first arrived in America, with hundreds of families and volunteers helping the new immigrants settle in, fundraising, and offering them jobs in their businesses. This example of the sense of community shared amongst Syrian Jews is inspiring, and is one of the reasons as to how they are so successful in preserving their delicate culture and tradition that continues to live on through generations to come.
